Roland B. Lewis, Jr.

President and CEO

I have a great and lofty vision for ACASA. As a member of the comedy community for 20 years I have seen a wide spectrum of both the good and bad that exists in that community. However, there is one thing I have never seen and that is an organized body that is designed to assist to the needs and recognize the work of comics. I see ASCA has the organization that will be the one stop, end all and be all organization who,s function will be serve the international world of comic's. We want to become the IMDB and AAA for comics. We want to educate and provide resources and recognition for the working comics. The ultimate goal is provide services like health insurance, temporary housing and financial services.

Before co-founding The Academy of Comedy Arts and Sciences, Mr. Lewis owned and operated “Wacked-Out Wednesdays” a live, weekly comedy showcase featuring headline comedy performances. Buddy Lewis is a graduate of Howard University in Washington, D.C., where his studies in microbiology were quickly overruled by his love for the art and science of comedy. A true student and achiever in the craft, Lewis enjoys a comfortable living from his work in the entertainment industry as a comedy writer, producer, actor and stand-up comedian. He has appeared in - and or written for- countless television programs and films and he regularly takes time to hone his craft in the live theatre. Lewis is firmly rooted in his love of philanthropy and community. Known for quick-wit and tireless dedication, Lewis served on the local and national board of The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA). His service includes Co-Chair of the Comedy Central Organizing Committee and the BET Organizing Committee. Buddy Lewis’ effectiveness, dedication and loyalty was noticed and rewarded, as he was ultimately promoted by unanimous election and appointment to serve as the Chair of the AFTRA/SAG/Writer’s Guild Comedians Caucus. During his tenure, he produced a multitude of special events, negotiated contracts and facilitated educational programs on behalf of comedians. As Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. Lewis brings a wealth of talent, business acumen, industry contacts and a vision to lead ACASA to becoming the premier and preferred source for the comedy industry.

Lauren V. Bailey

Managing Director

For the years I've spent representing talent, it is the comedians who have always held a special place in my heart. I firmly believe that comedy is an under-appreciated, and under-valued art-form. We love a good laugh and a good joke, but few really grasp the work and dedication behind the performance or written word; the truth in the art-form, and the pain behind the smile. Comedy is a tough business - where the old adage, "only the strong survive" takes on a life of it's own. It is my vision that comedians will find ACASA unique to the needs of comedy. With ACASA, Stand-Up Performers, Comedy Actors and Comedy Writers will finally have a voice, a choice, a clearing house, and a "Home".

Prior to co-founding ACASA, Ms. Bailey enjoyed over 25 years in the entertainment industry. She served as a business representative for The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. In addition to contract negotiation, administration and enforcement, Ms. Bailey served as the primary Liaison to the AFTRA/SAG/Writer’s Guild Comedians Caucus from its inception in 1994. During her tenure, she created and produced comedy showcases, seminars, workshops, and recognition events for the comedy community. A fierce believer in the art of comedy, its positive impact and lack of recognition, Lauren Vanessa Bailey worked tirelessly on behalf of comedians to heighten the awareness of their specific needs and challenges. Ms. Bailey completed her undergraduate studies as UCLA, where she combined Art and Business majors towards a degree in Arts Management. She utilized her training in arts management to start her own management company, where she represented international specialty acts, and produced live international comedy events to raise funds for national non-profit organizations. Currently, Ms. Bailey is the sole proprietor of a property management company and a Certified, Professional Life Coach. As President and Managing Director, Ms. Bailey will recruit a dynamic team of dedicated and loyal experts who have proven skills to represent all aspects of ACASA’s requirements and objectives
