The Academy of Comedy Arts and Sciences Associated International has developed a series of annual events to support the ongoing mission of the organization. The events serve as fundraisers and membership drives, while also celebrating the gift and benefits of comedy; showcasing the limitless talent in the field; providing benefits to our membership; and community outreach. ACASA FILM GRANT AWARDS
The ACASA Film Grant Awards Banquet honors students enrolled in ACASA’s Academy classes and ACASA members for outstanding work in the direction, writing and production of the Comedy Short format film/video. Members of the Nomination Committee of the Advisory Board review and determine the nominees from the submissions. The final decision is left to the members of ACASA. The finalists film shorts are showcased as a highlight to the banquet, followed by the presentation of the grants.
COMICS FOR KIDS TOY DRIVE
ACASA International joins selected corporate sponsors for a family fun day of, games, food and frolic – all for donating a toy (and ticket for adults). This holiday season kick-off will feature comedians that the entire family can enjoy. Featured sponsors will be represented from popular children’s authors, toy manufacturers and a variety of games for children of all ages. A highlight of the event includes entertainment planned especially for the young people. All toys gathered at the gate will be donated to pre-selected local foster-care, and children’s charitable organizations.
ACASA COMEDY CONCERT AND FUNDRAISER
The Academy of Comedy Arts and Sciences International is a Non-Profit organization, and in order to meet its mission, it is crucial to keep funding strong and healthy. The Annual Comedy Concert is designed to do just that. This event begins with a private reception for Benefactors, Sponsors and Founding members. The showcase event is a full evening of comedy starring some of the latest and greatest in comedy which is open to the general public. The celebration continues into the evening with a lively after party.
ACASA PICNIC & HEALTH FAIR
How do you get 1000 comedians to show up for free health-care screenings? Offer the screenings at a family-style picnic. We’re partnering with health-care professionals and taking the health-care act on the road. ACASA members will be able to screen for diabetes, high blood pressure, body mass, even eye exams will be available. This is a private event for all ACASA members, their families and friends. In addition to delicious and healthy food, the event will offer the traditions of the old-style family picnic with sack-races and balloon tosses, but also zip-lines, swimming, softball, horseshoes and of course live entertainments.
CO-HEARTS IN COMEDY
Laughter is a healing art-form and ACASA International believes in spreading the joy. We will be joining other Non-Profit organizations to develop a series of events to raise awareness of our respective organization, and to raise funds. Our initial vision is to partner with Operation Smiles for a comedy concert in support of smiles, laughter and the efforts of both organizations. Laughter begins with a smile. Working with organizations like Operation Smiles in a natural choice.
